Become a participant
Taking part in scientific research is an opportunity to learn more about yourself while helping society at the same time.
Register
Would you like to become a participant and find out what research studies are currently ongoing? You can register on SONA, and you will see an overview of which studies are available and what allowance you will receive if you take part.
Registration is easy. There are a few differences between students of the Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences programme and students from outside.
As a first-year student of Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences you are obliged to take part in research at Leiden University and when you start your studies you are automatically registered in the SONA system for what are known as participant credits. This means that you do not need to create an account yourself and you can simply log in with your student ID.
As a student at Leiden University you can register by entering your student ID. You will then receive an email and password.
Are you a student, but not at Leiden University? Even then you can participate in research. You can register by filling in your personal details and using a self-made unique number as ID. You will then receive an e-mail and password.
Signing up for research
Once you have registered, you can sign up for research studies. The criteria for taking part are always clearly indicated. The sequence of the experiments is random and changes each new time you open the page. You can sign up via the “Timeslots available” and “Sign Up” buttons. In other cases you can sign up with the leader of the experiment via e-mail.
