Who can you turn to

During your studies, you may encounter all kinds of challenges. Here you can find an overview of various resources to help you.

Your studyadviser can give you advice on your studies. If you have any questions or concerns about your programme, whether they be of a practical or academic nature, you can contact your study adviser.

Student counsellors assist students in matters concerning regulations and legal provisions. Students can turn to a student counsellor with any questions or problems they might have concerning combining studying with other responsibilities, money matters, study delay, studying with a disability and support in cases of complaints.

We want to help you as best we can when you start your studies. We do this by means of the mentoraat. The mentorship consists of a mentor (a senior student) and a tutor (a teacher) who will show you around the city and the study. The mentor is your first point of contact and can help you with study problems or refer you to the right people. The details of the mentor and tutor system vary per programme and are arranged during the first semester of the first year.

The Educational Service Centre (OSC) oversees the study and course administration. The OSC is available to everyone by phone and at their front desk for questions, for example, about the organisation of your exams.

If you have a general question about studying at Leiden University the staff of the Student Affairs Front Office would be happy to help. They can provide information on a wide range of subjects, for example, tuition fees, student cards and LU-cards, admission to your bachelor or log- in details of your ULCN account.

You can find them in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Wijnhaven next to the Service Desk from 11am-4pm.

If you have been subjected to (sexual) intimidation, bullying, aggression, violence or discrimination, you can contact the Confidential Counsellors for Unacceptable Behaviour. They have a fully independent position and everything you discuss will be treated with the utmost confidence.
