Het Studentenkabinet, een schaduwkabinet met daarin studenten van Nederlandse universiteiten, heeft zijn eerste ‘regeerakkoord’ gepresenteerd. Leids studente Zeineb Romdhane pleit als Minister van de Nieuwe Democratie voor ‘verwerking van inclusie in de basis van onze democratie’.

Kennis delen over sociale media in Afrika
Afrika is in de lucht. De Leidse Afrikaspecialist Mirjam de Bruijn is gefascineerd door de snelle ontwikkeling van mobiele telefonie en sociale media in Afrika. Daarover houdt ze een website bij, toegespitst op afgelegen, gemarginaliseerde en conflictueuze gebieden in Midden-Afrika.

Leidse studenten 2 en 3 bij Africa Thesis Award 2012
De Leidse studenten Judith Zoetelief en Cartharine Wilson staan op de tweede en derde plaats bij de verkiezing van de beste master thesis over Afrika. Deze wereldwijde competitie van het Africa Studie Centrum telde 35 inzendingen. De prijsuitreiking is tijdens de Afrikadag op 17 november.
