Study plan

Some bachelor's programmes help you monitor your own academic progress by assisting you in drawing up a study plan at the end of your first year.

The study plan is intended to help you remain focused and motivated for the rest of your programme. You will draw up a study plan for your second and third years at the end of your first and second year respectively.

Study Plan

You draw up a study plan, discuss it with the Academic Advisor and follow it during the program. It forms the basis of obtaining your degree. The study plan must be approved by the Academic Advisor. So you need to also obtain approval for any changes. 

Your study plan is adapted to your specialization and your circumstances (e.g., how long it will take you to complete the program). Fill in the mandatory and elective courses. You can find the rules in CER-Appendices. You should use CER-Appendices to put together the study plan. This document gives you the rules.

Instruction to fill in the studyplan: 

  • Consult the Course and Exam Regulations, Appendices (CER-A), of your specialization.
  • List all the courses that you are planning to follow during the whole program
  • Make sure that your plan satisfies the requirements as these are spelled out in the CER-A.
  • Fill in all fields in the header
  • Under semester/year, please use the convention F22, S23, etc, for Fall 2022, Spring2023
  • Add/remove rows as needed.
  • Save the file in .xls format with the file name LastName,FirstNameInitialYr: e.g., Papathanassiou,C23.xls and upload it on Brightspace as instructed.
  • If you make changes during the year, you need to consult with the Academic Advisor
  • You update and submit the final study plan, 2 months before you intend to graduate and send it to the Academic Advisor for the final approval. You need to remove text in <> and fill in the relevant info.

You can find the course description and prerequisites in the e-prospectus. You do not need to fill in anything under 'project(s)' yet. Should you wish to make changes in the course of the program, always consult the rules in the CER-Appendices and seek the approval of the Academic Advisor.

You should draft an initial study plan for the whole duration of your studies (i.e., all 120EC) and indicate the semester as in the example in the template. Upload the study plan at least two working days before your initial appointment with the Academic Advisor. If your personal situation changes and has an impact on your study pace or content, discuss these with the Academic Advisor. You do NOT need to resubmit a study plan every semester if there are no changes!

Before graduation, you need to email an updated study plan to the Academic Advisor to obtain the final approval without which no degree may be issued by the Faculty's Student Administration.
