When deciding what to study you undoubtedly read a lot of information about your study programme. Leiden University employs various systems to provide information about programmes and courses and to facilitate communication between lecturers and students.
The Prospectus contains information about all the courses within your study programme. Here you can find all you need to know about your programme. Via the online learning environment Brightspace you can communicate with your lecturers and submit assignments.
The aim of the specialisation in Translation in Theory and Practice is to familiarise you with the many different challenges a translator faces and with the large variety of reference works, information sources and tools at the translator’s disposal.
In tutorials, you do not only discuss translation problems, you also look at the importance of semantics, pragmatics, stylistics and heuristics. In addition, you study translation theories that may help you to make well-informed choices when translating or editing a variety of text types on a wide range of topics, both in Dutch and in English.
The MA in Leiden provides you with an opportunity to focus on legal or literary translation.
