When deciding what to study you undoubtedly read a lot of information about your study programme. Leiden University employs various systems to provide information about programmes and courses and to facilitate communication between lecturers and students.
The Prospectus contains information about all the courses within your study programme. Here you can find all you need to know about your programme. Via the online learning environment Brightspace you can communicate with your lecturers and submit assignments.
The specialisation Korean Studies concentrates on cultural and cultural-historical themes like globalisation and frontier-cultures in Asia. It also examines Asian philosophies such as Buddhism, Daoism, and Confucianism. Language training aims at providing a command of Korean and focuses especially on broad and practical applications for situations in which graduates often find themselves in their professional lives.
The first semester of the programme is held at Leiden. You will have the chance to follow a number of courses offered through the Asian Studies research master’s programme. The two semesters hereafter will be spent at one of Leiden’s partner universities in Korea, where you will develop your language skills through intensive study courses. During the final semester the thesis will be written.
