Programme information
The programme Arts and Culture (research) has three objectives. Firstly, it provides students with a shared methodological and theoretical basis to study the visual arts, architecture, and literature. Mediality, agency, and a global awareness are the foundations of the comparative approach to written and visual culture developed in Leiden. Secondly, the program enables students to acquire sophisticated knowledge and technical expertise in their specialisation, be this art history or literary studies.
The flexibility of the program allows students to specialize either in a period, for instance the early modern or contemporary, across the arts and literatures, or to specialize in a particular art form from the late Mediaeval period to the present day. Finally the programme offers thorough training in research skills.
