Awarding of diploma
Once you complete your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree you will be awarded your diploma during a celebratory graduation ceremony. Some study programmes also have ceremonies for the awarding of first-year (propedeuse) diplomas or other important achievements. The awarding of your diploma is always arranged by your faculty or study programme.
Graduation ceremonies are always arranged by your study programme or faculty.
Graduation time frame for Linguistics
If you would like to take part in such a ceremony, you need to bear in mind the following deadlines:
Students: Diploma application form sent to Education Administration Office (preferably earlier) | 1 June | 1 December |
Students: Thesis (=final version) submitted to supervisor and thesis repository | 1 June | 1 December |
Supervisors: Thesis grade (or, last grade) passed on to administration | 15 August | 15 January |

Questions and contact
There are two graduation ceremonies; in February/March and in September/October. If you would like to graduate in another month you can participate in the next ceremony. If you have any other questions, please contact your coordinator of studies or the administration as soon as possible.
Please bear in mind that the graduation process may take a month (or more, during the holiday period) from the moment all your grades have been registered in uSis until your diploma and transcript of records are ready.
Cum laude and Summa Cum Laude
The diploma and the diploma supplement will contain the cum laude distinction if the following conditions are met:
- the weighted average for all components is 8.0 or higher.
- the grade for the Master’s thesis is 8.0 or higher.
- the Master’s final examination was passed within the nominal duration of study plus one year.
The diploma and diploma supplement will contain the summa cum laude distinction if the following conditions are met:
- the weighted average for all components is 9.0 or higher.
- the grade for the Master’s thesis is 9.0 or higher.
- the Master’s final examination was passed within the nominal duration of study
