Study adviser or coordinator
Your study adviser or coordinator is an expert on all aspects of your study programme. If you have any questions or concerns about your programme, whether they be of a practical or academic nature, you can contact your study adviser.
Academic issues
Are you experiencing academic difficulties? Or are you falling behind in your studies due to personal circumstances? If so, it is essential that you speak to your study adviser/coordinator as soon as possible. He or she can advise you on the best course of action and, if required, assist you in dealing with study delay.
Practical issues
You can also speak to your study adviser about a range of practical issues concerning your programme, such as:
- Planning your studies
- Schedule issues
- Choosing elective credits
- Requesting exemptions
- Advice on internship
Study advisor Biomedical Sciences
You can turn to the study advisor for:
- Advice on issues that are related to your studies, directly or indirectly. For example procedures and regulations.
- Advice on planning and organising your study programmess
- Reporting special circumstances, like personal circumstances, handicap, top level sport, governance activities, PhD programmes. She can arrange extra support, registration of study delay, referral to student deans, doctors or psychologists and negotiation for extra facilities (like more time for the exams, larger font sizes, etc.)
Make an appointment with Bianca Hogers, the study advisor for the Master Biomedical Sciences. This is especially important regarding the Binding Study Advice. The exam committee can decide not to give a negative advice based on circumstances. However, the circumstances have to be registered.
An appointment with Bianca Hogers can also be made at the LUMC Education Service Desk. Call (+31) 071 526 87 00 from Monday to Friday, 08.30 to 16.45 (changes in office hours are posted on Blackboard).
You can ask short questions via b.hogers@lumc.nl or during the Open Office of Bianca Hogers, Monday from 12.30 to 13.30 in building 3, office V5-12.
Support group master Biomedical Sciences
Students may contact the professors in this support group should they need advice in making their choices with regards to the possibilities within the master’s programme. For example: which FOS courses meet my interest and are at the same time a good preparation for my internship? What is the best place to do my internship? I would like to end up working in a specific profession, how do I get there? Should I keep my interests broad or should I specialise instead?
Ombuds officer or counselor
In the case of intimidation, sexual harassment or unequal treatment, you can contact the Leiden University counsellor. For other serious issues you can contact the ombuds officer.
