What is honours education?
Honours education is a testing ground in which you can grow further on a personal, professional and academic level. In addition to your studies at Leiden University, you take one or multiple courses that challenge you, bring inspiring insights and provide you with valuable skills. You will also learn to think outside-the-box and solve societal problems together with students from other disciplines.

For bachelor's students
- Honours College (30 EC): Two-year programme in which you take extra courses during your bachelor's and work on your academic, personal and professional development. You start in your first or second year.
- Bachelor Honours Classes (5 EC): A single course that challenges you on a particular subject. All third-year bachelor's students can apply!
- LDE Sustainability Honours Programme (15 EC): One-year programme for second- and third-year bachelor students of all faculties with interest in sustainability.
- LDE Space & Society Honours Programme (15 EC): One-year programme for second- and third-year bachelor students of all faculties with interest in space sector.
- In Delft and Rotterdam you can participate in certain honours courses and programmes as a bachelor's student at Leiden University.
For master's students
- Leiden Leadership Programme (15 EC): full one-year honours programme in which you further develop your leadership skills, delve into a socially relevant topic and gain experience in an organisation.
- Master Honours Challenges (5 or 10 EC): a shorter course or project in which you learn to tackle a complex issue for society or on behalf of a partner organisation.
- In Delft and Rotterdam you can participate in certain honours courses and programmes as a master's student at Leiden University.
For bachelor and master
- Some project-based courses of the Master Honours Challenges are also available for advanced bachelor students.
- Designing Your Life: the skills modules of Designing Your Life are available to master's and advanced bachelor's students. Design your life path, learn to network and gain confidence in the future!
- In Delft and Rotterdam you can participate in certain honours courses and programmes as a bachelor's or master's student at Leiden University.
