‘Honours College is a supportive environment that allows you to expand beyond the boundaries of your main programme. It’s a space where you can connect with other motivated students and experts in various fields.’
‘You’re not just one of many students—your ideas and perspectives are valued, and you’re encouraged to take initiative in both academic and extracurricular projects. The sense of being part of a community where you can truly grow and develop as an individual makes the Honours College such a rewarding experience.’
‘I quickly realized that the extra work isn’t really extra—it’s an opportunity to expand beyond the narrow focus of my degree. I would say that the Honours College has taught me better time management and focus. Taking a step back from psychology to dive into different subjects has allowed me to approach my studies in a more well-rounded way.’

Alexa (International Relations and Organisations)
‘Thanks to honours, I have learned the value of hearing different perspectives. You take classes with people from different studies, which makes them much more interesting. You really step out of your own bubble and get a broader perspective on topics.’
‘The lecturers at honours are incredibly motivated and passionate - you can tell by the way they teach. It feels much more personal than regular lectures, where you may take a class with hundreds of other students. In many tracks you can choose between courses, allowing you to discover new interests, meet people from other faculties and broaden your knowledge.’
‘I have one message for doubters: just give it a try! I was also in doubt about which track to choose. In the end I went for FSW and that turned out to be a good choice. You only know what suits you when you try things.’

Zeynep (Psychology)
‘The most important lesson I learned with honours is to take initiative. Honours tracks give the space to do personal and group projects in a creative way and I take advantage of that. It takes time and practice to learn how to create opportunities for yourself, but your honours journey teaches you that well!’
‘At first I was scared that it was going to be a crazy amount of extra work. I was lucky to be surprised! It is easier than I anticipated. Also, the workload is mostly projects I genuinely enjoy doing.’
‘I loved the Changemakers Lab because of the structure and the mission of the course. I’ve always had the drive to contribute to the society I live in. The Changemakers Lab gave me the opportunity and the tools to execute a real-life project with my peers. It taught me how to navigate real-world problems and find feasible solutions.’
