Course and Exam Regulations (CER)

The scope of the boards authority and the institute’s applicable rules and regulations are laid out in two distinct but related documents, namely the Course and Exam Regulations (CER), drawn up by the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, and the Rules and Regulations (R&R), drawn up by the Board of Examiners.

In these two documents students can find everything they need about teaching-related issues such as:

  • Registration procedures for and gaining admittance to exams and resits;
  • The validity of completed exams and practical exercises (such as term papers);
  • Policy for resits and requesting an extra exam;
  • Evaluation, partial marks, the rounding of scores and determining the final mark;
  • Fraud and plagiarism;
  • Regulations pertaining to special circumstances

Board of Examiners

The role of the Board of Examiners is to ensure that study programmes adhere to their Course and Examination Regulations. The Board of Examiners oversees all tests and examinations within the institute and determines whether students have acquired the knowledge and skills required for the awarding of their degree.

Find more information on the Board of Examiners on the student website, using the Security Studies (BSc) tab.
