Facilities

If you need study facilities or physical aids due to your disability, Fenestra can help you to arrange them. Also check on the page about your specific disability to find out if there are additional facilities available at Leiden University and how these can be arranged.

Additional facilities in the home might be both needed and welcome if you have a disability.

Housing for new international students

Every semester, Leiden University reserves a limited number of rooms for future international students via a local housing agency. There are always far more housing requests than rooms available, see the housing via Leiden University page. If you are a future international student with a disability, contact the university’s Housing Officer (housing@sea.leidenuniv.nl) well before the housing deadline to ask if suitable rooms might be available and what steps to take.

Adaptations to your home

EU citizens who live independently and require special adaptations to their homes may, in some circumstances, be able to request support on the grounds of the Social Support Act (Wet Maatschappelijke Ondersteuning – in Dutch). If you live in accommodation provided by DUWO student housing organisation please contact them directly with your request.

Healthcare

Fenestra’s specialised staff can help you to find the best healthcare providers. Also see the general information on healthcare.

Home care

If you need homecare, for example someone to administer injections every day or help you get dressed in the morning, this can be arranged. Unfortunately the costs are very high and international students are not entitled to any compensation or funding for these services. Please contact Fenestra if you need home care and are considering studying at Leiden University.

Please contact Fenestra to discuss possibilities.
