University childcare centre
Leiden University has its own childcare centre, De Kattekop. The fiftysix available places are reserved for Leiden University staff and students. The childcare centre is open to children aged eight weeks to four years.

PhD research at two universities
In some cases, PhD candidates are permitted to follow a PhD track that involves conducting research and receiving supervision at two institutions: Leiden University and another university. On this page, you can read what forms of agreement there are.

Education of your children
In the Netherlands children attend school from the age of 4 and are legally required to do so from the age of 5. Elementary school, or primary education (basisschool), lasts 8 years.

Labour Participation Act
In the context of the Labour Participation Act, Leiden University employs persons with a disability. In this context, in 2016 we created an additional 16 FTEs for ‘labour participation employees’. For the next ten years, we hope to increase this by 6.3 fte per year.
