The Sustainable Humanities Scholarship is intended for students from Leiden University who are participating in a pre-arranged study abroad program.

This scholarship is intended for students from the following programmes who are nominated to follow a part of their study programme abroad:
- BA African Studies
- BA Chinastudies
- BA Japanstudies
- BA Koreastudies
- BA Latijns-Amerikastudies
- BA Midden-Oostenstudies
- BA Russische studies
- BA South and Southeast Asian Studies
- MA Asian Studies 120 EC
Eligibility requirements
Students need to be nominated by their Leiden University programme in order to receive this scholarship.
Scholarship or loan amount
The scholarship amount differs depending on the host country or target group. This will be communicated to students timely during the programme’s information sessions.

This scholarship is part of a programme called Sustainable Humanities, that was launched in 2009 to strengthen Humanities programmes in general and “area studies” in particular

In case the situation in the destination country changes and becomes unsafe, Leiden University has the right to cancel the study abroad programme and to refrain from paying out the scholarship.
