Do you want to make the justice system accessible for everyone? Whether it’s simplifying complex procedures, breaking down legal jargon, or reducing costs, together we’ll make legal services more efficient and user-friendly.
What is the Legal Tech Challenge?
The Legal Tech Challenge 2025 is a unique program where you’ll work in teams to develop innovative solutions that improve access to justice. Your main goal? To design and build an app that addresses real challenges within the legal sector.
Throughout the challenge, you’ll participate in a series of interactive sessions where you’ll gain practical skills such as legal design thinking, business case development, and prototyping. The program concludes with an exciting finale where you’ll present your app concept to the jury and your peers.
This year’s theme is access to justice: how can we make legal information and services clearer, simpler, and more affordable for everyone? Your ideas can make a real impact!

Who can participate?
Do you study at Leiden University or Hogeschool Leiden? Then you can join this challenge! Even if you do not study law, that is no problem, you are very welcome.

How much time will it require?
The challenge includes four workshops, each lasting two to four hours. Additionally, you’ll work with your team outside of the workshops to develop your app concept. This work can be scheduled flexibly to fit your availability.
