Koen Caminada appointed Dean of FGGA
The Executive Board has appointed Prof. Koen Caminada as Dean of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs. Caminada has served as interim dean since April of this year. His new appointment is from 1 September 2024 and is for a period of four years.
Koen Caminada (1966) is also Professor of Empirical Analysis of Tax and Social Policy at Leiden Law School. He has plenty of leadership experience, including as Vice Dean of Education at FGGA, a role he has held for the past six years.
Familiar faces in new roles
The Executive Board is pleased with Koen Caminada’s appointment. ‘With Erwin Muller moving to the new role of Vice-Rector of Organisational Development, it was good news already that Koen wanted to take on this role on an interim basis’, says Hester Bijl. ‘I am glad that, like the Executive Board, the Faculty and Faculty Council have every confidence in Koen as the new Dean for the next four years. It has been a pleasure to work with Koen over the years and the Executive Board looks forward to this continuing, with him now in the role of Dean.’
Dr Maarja Beerkens has been interim Vice Dean of Education since April. Maarja is also a familiar face at FGGA, having held various roles at the Institute of Public Administration since 2010. The Executive Board has extended her appointment as interim Vice Dean of Education until the end of this year. The appointment procedure for a new Vice Dean of Education has now begun.
The other members of the Faculty Board are Niels Laurens (Executive Director) and Sterre Burmeister (Assessor or student member).
