Professor Geert de Snoo Appointed New Director of Research Policy at KNAW
Geert de Snoo is making the transition from the Netherlands Institute of Ecology to the management of KNAW. Starting 1 October, the professor of Environmental Biology will begin his role as Director of Research Policy in a new, consensus-based management team.
Geert de Snoo is currently the Director of the Netherlands Institute of Ecology, an institute of KNAW. He will share his chair on the Management Board with Adriana Esmeijer, Director of General Affairs, and Iwan Holleman, Director of Business Development. The new Board Management team succeeds the Academy’s acting Board.

About Geert de Snoo
In addition to his role as director of research policy, De Snoo will continue his work as a professor of Environmental Biology at the Institute of Environmental Sciences in Leiden. Here, he conducts research on protecting biodiversity in human-dominated landscapes. From 2012 to 2019, De Snoo was the dean of the Faculty of Science.
