Annetje Ottow reappointed as President of the Executive Board
Leiden University’s President of the Executive Board, Professor Annetje Ottow, has been reappointed for a second term by the Board of Governors.
The Board of Governors has decided to appoint Annetje Ottow for a second four-year term as of 8 February 2025. Before reaching its decision the Board of Governors sought the advice of the deans and the University Council.
Chair of the Board of Governors, Ab van der Touw, said, ‘Annetje Ottow has achieved a lot in her more than three years in the role of President of the Executive Board. Despite the many issues the Board faced in this period, she invested a great deal of time and energy in topics such as regional and international relations, dignity and respect and many other current challenges.’
Collaboration and sustainability
‘Annetje Ottow has performed well in her role as the external face of Leiden University. She has achieved results such as building on the collaboration with Erasmus University Rotterdam and Delft University of Technology within the LDE alliance. She also brought the topic of sustainability to the forefront of administrative agendas. Annetje Ottow is an engaged, ambitious leader with a keen eye for strategy and developments affecting the university. She is a great inspiration and genuinely interested in the ideas and vision of others.’
The Board of Governors sees Annetje Ottow as a President who can continue on the course set in recent years in a second term of appointment. ‘With her vision, ambitions for the position of the university and eye for external developments (national and international) and their impact on Leiden University, she is more than able to represent the university in her role as President of the Executive Board.’
