Concerns about sexual offences in Leiden
Leiden University is deeply concerned to have learned that several women have recently been harassed and assaulted in the centre of Leiden. In one case, this appeared to involve rape. We understand that people are upset, especially our students.
It is obviously unacceptable that members of our community and all Leiden residents are not safe on the streets of our beautiful city at night.
The university is in close contact with the municipality, police, Local Chamber of Associations (PKvV) and the student and study associations. We encourage everyone to take good care. Follow the advice of the police and if you are going out at night, try to make sure you stay with others.
If you are looking for more information or need to speak to someone, find out more about unacceptable behaviour and where to turn.
