Keuzegids consumer guide: six top programmes at Leiden University
Leiden University has six top bachelor’s programmes, according to Keuzegids universiteiten 2024 consumer guide to universities published on 30 November 2023. This once again puts the university in third place among broad universities ranked according to top programmes.
In Leiden and The Hague, these are the following top programmes:
- Liberal Arts and Sciences: Global Challenges (in The Hague)
- German Language and Culture
- Greek and Latin Language and Culture
- Dutch Language and Culture
- Biomedical Sciences
- Clinical Technology (this programme is a collaboration with TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam)
Proud of the result
Rector Hester Bijl is proud of Leiden University’s results in the guide. ‘Our bachelor’s programmes in Leiden and The Hague have done well once again in this year’s guide. I want to congratulate the students and staff from our six top programmes in particular on this great result.’
The annual Keuzegids consumer guide lists the current range of university bachelor’s programmes and highlights the differences between them. The scores are also based on student assessments from the annual National Student Survey (NSE), which more than 289,000 students took in 2023. The guide also contains information on student intake, transfers and job market prospects for the various programmes.
Broad universities
Leiden University takes third place in the ranking of the six broad universities, with only Utrecht University and Radboud University Nijmegen above, in first and second place respectively. The differences between the universities are small. Most were again within the range of the national average with their BA programmes, according to the guide.
Across the board, Leiden University scores above average in the area of ‘interdisciplinary’ compared to other broad universities. It is also doing well with several language and culture programmes, as well as Liberal Arts and Sciences: Global Challenges in The Hague and Biomedical Sciences.
