‘It’s a real honour to have been appointed for my ambassadorial role as a linking pin between universities of applied sciences, research universities and the field. This bridge-building role is nothing new for me but it’s nice to have it recognised and acknowledged. Medical Delta used to primarily focus on the medical sector and care and cure. I’m more for prevention and vitality. That was always the poor relative but it’s now gaining prominence with this appointment, the Vitale Delta programme and the new Medical Delta societies.’
Can you briefly describe your expertise?
‘I’ve got degrees in Human Movement Sciences and Epidemiology and have conducted extensive research on the lifestyle of various groups, often focusing on the young but also on the elderly and chronically ill. As a professor of Healthy Lifestyle in a Stimulating Environment at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, I mainly focus on making sure young people between the ages of 4 and 24 eat a healthy diet and get enough exercise.’
