‘Informative yet personal, Professor Abbas' book release has left me eager to read Ruminations’ - Camilla Di Mattei
Ruminations is the seventeenth book published by Professor Tahir Abbas. It took him over a decade and a half to put it together and he finally completed it during the recent lockdown period.
Professor Abbas about his new book: ‘I liked the opportunity to reflect on my life and some of my concerns about identity and belonging. While I am an ethnic studies and social conflict expert with a specific focus on radicalisation and extremism, I am also a sociologist concerned with broader problems of migration, identity, and politics. So, the goal of this exercise was to present an autoethnographic account of life in Britain from the late 1970s through my personal lens as a British-born Muslim with Kashmiri ancestry.’
Eager to read
The book launch was hosted by Richard McNeil-Willson. The discussant was Ahab Bdaiwi, University Lecturer Arabic and Medieval Philosophy and Late Antique Intellectual History. They had both just finished reading the book and were very enthusiastic about this personal book.
Camilla Di Mattei, one of professor Abbas' students, attended the book launch: ‘Informative yet personal, Professor Abbas' book release has left me eager to read Ruminations’
After the book launch, the guests had the opportunity to ask questions and buy a signed copy of the book.
