In pictures: ‘Groot Nederlands Student Kampioenschap’ student games for the first time in The Hague

The 'Groot Nederlands Student Kampioenschap' student games have been held for the first time in two cities, Delft and The Hague. To make this happen our Campus The Hague worked together with The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Inholland University of Applied Sciences. Three students look back at a great weekend.

‘It’s been an incredibly successful weekend. We had 14 different sports and over 1,000 participants. The reactions have been really positive. This year is the first time that the games have been held in two cities. It’s admirable how everyone has pulled together in The Hague. This is a testament to The Hague’s ambition as a student city, with broad collaboration between the University of Applied Sciences, Inholland and Leiden University. That bodes well for the future.’

‘Leiden University’s team was short of players, so I signed up along with four of my classmates. I’m studying International Sports Management at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. We lost all three matches on the first day of the games. It’s the first time we’ve played together so we’re not used to each other yet. But we’re playing quite well anyway!’

‘We’re doing well in terms of fun but less so in terms of results. The first day was disappointing but we’re doing much better today. We drew against a team that we lost 5-0 to yesterday. We’re now playing against Nijmegen and the score is 1-1, so we’re still in with a chance. I’m the treasurer of the Hague branch of the football club. In the future we hope to play with a bigger team and to have a women’s team!’
