Recently it was announced that the 2024 Turing award has been awarded to Andrew Barto and Richard Sutton, for developing the conceptual and algorithmic foundations of reinforcement learning.
To celebrate this award, LIACS organizes a lecture, with drinks afterwards. On Thursday 10 April, Aske Plaat will give a lecture for all of LIACS and beyond, to explain what Reinforcement Learning is about, and why Barto and Sutton deserve this award.
The lecture starts at 16:00, will be held in Gorlaeus CM 1.26, and is aimed at a general computer science audience. All students and staff are welcome to help celebrate the achievements of our field.
Afterwards there will be drinks in the Fusion Bar.
