In this workshop we will delve into the long tradition of political posters for Palestine. In the seventies and eighties, the Palestinian Liberation Organization regularly commissioned Palestinian, Arab, and international artists, building an impressive collection of political posters, characterized by innovative graphic design. Palestine also played a central role in a global visual culture of international anti-imperialist solidarity. This workshop consists of two parts. The lecture discusses the history of Palestine posters and analyses their visual iconography. After the break, we will take inspiration from this legacy in designing our own posters. We will work with analogue methods such as collage, lino print and paint.
