It's spring: time for new beginnings, and reflect on the past year, together! You are invited to our Mapping Slavery Walk and Potluck Spring Dinner, an evening where we can share stories, food, warmth and love with each other.
Leiden is a city where world cultures come together and where you will find silent witnesses to important historical events. For centuries the Netherlands was involved in the slave trade and slavery, a history of exploitation and racism. This took place not only far away, in Africa and the Caribbean, but also nearby traces have been left in many places. With the Mapping Slavery Walk, you will learn more about the city of Leiden, the many languages, cultures studied here and the historical footsteps made here.
The Potluck Spring Dinner represents the diversity of cultures with the Meeting Point, Leiden Caribbean Community, and POPcorner Leiden. Therefore, we would like you to bring a dish that is meaningful to you or typical in your culture for this season. A dish related to spring, new beginnings, brightness after darkness, forgiveness or a holiday (e.g. orange tompouces for King's Day; bara for Holi-Phagwa or baklava for Eid-al-Fitr). Then the dinner will be a mixture of all different small bites, dishes, and desserts.
Enjoy being together, sharing food, telling stories and engaging in interactive activities.

Practical information
Mapping Slavery Walk (guided tour by Mapping Slavery Leiden)
Time: 5.00 - 6.30 pm
Location: Meet up at 4:30 at Rapenburg 100 (and for the ones that are also joining the Spring Dinner can drop off their dish here)
Potluck Spring Dinner
Time: 7.00 - 9.00 pm
Location: Rapenburg 100, 2311 GA Leiden
