Ada Lovelace Day is celebrated on the second Tuesday of every October to recognize the achievements of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
In Snellius building together with LIACS and MI, we celebrate Ada Lovelace Day yearly as well. We make use of this special occasion to welcome our newest female students and staffs in LIACS and MI. We invite two guest speakers from LIACS and MI. The speakers tell stories about themselves, what brought them here and how they overcame all the obstacles in pursuing their career.
We hope these heart-to-heart talks would encourage and inspire you chasing your dreams in the STEM fields. Make you feel at home and let you know you are not alone.
This year, we will keep on this tradition on 11th Oct. Following is the schedule for the event:
15:15-15:20 Opening: Jetty Kleijn (Professor of Theoretical Computing Science)
15:20-15:40 Speaker from MI: Martina Chirilus-Bruckner (Assistant Professor in Analysis and Dynamical Systems)
15:40-16:00 Speaker from LIACS: Carolina Mattsson (Postdoc in Computational Network Science)
16:00-16:45 Time for coffee, cookies and good conversations with fellow female students and speakers. This part of the event will take place in the cafeteria of Snellius (1st floor).
