This sporty Well-Being Wednesday is all about karate! Karate is a self-defence art and martial art from Japan. Did you know that karate is good for finding focus and peace?
In this two-hour workshop, you will learn the basic elements of karate. Exercises from this workshop are mild-intensity and can be applied to daily life afterwards. Get away from your daily habits or the hustle and bustle of the start of a new academic year! Plus: the workshop takes place outside, in contact with nature, in nature park 'De Leidse Hout'.
If you have no karate experience, that's no problem at all: the workshop is suitable for beginners.
The trainer, Leiden alumnus Taco Scheltens, has learned to go from restlessness to stability with the help of karate and psychology. In addition to his work as a karate-based coach, he is also a lecturer in Psychology at Leiden University.
