During the Career College, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss topics with panel members, such as:

  • What is the difference between research within an academic and business environment?
  • Why doing a PhD (or not)?
  • How does a typical workday look like?
  • Which skills are necessary to be a successful researcher?
  • What do they like most (and don't like so much) about their role in research?

Panel members

  • Anne van der Meij - Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto, with a background in Biology and Microbiol biotechnology
  • Marlize van Breugel - PhD Researcher at The Netherlands Cancer Institute, with a background in Life Science and Technology
  • Guadalupe Cañas Herrera - Postdoctoral Researcher at the European Space Agency, with a background in  Physics

Join the discussion and ask your questions about the opportunities and challenges, frustrations and success factors of working in research.

This career college is free of charge and available to all Bachelor and Master students and recent graduates of Leiden University. Note that although the event is open to students with all backgrounds,  the panel members all have a background in science!
