13 December is Purple Friday: the day when you can show solidarity with the LGBTQIAP+ community by wearing purple. By doing so, you show that we can all be ourselves, no matter who we are or fall in love with. In Leiden and The Hague, pride flags are flown on University buildings on Purple Friday. By colouring the university purple, we show that diversity is the norm and that no one should be excluded. If you would like to show your support on Friday, wear purple clothes and/or accessories that day.

Lasting change 

Purple Friday is a time to reflect on how we as a university community can support the LGBTQIA+ community. We need to work every day to create lasting change. Wearing purple on 13 December is just the first step towards this.
