On Tuesday, November 19th, presenter and teacher of the master's programme Journalism and New Media, Twan Huys will interview Eliot Higgins. He is a British investigative journalist, blogger and founder of the online investigative collective Bellingcat. He began writing under the pseudonym ‘Brown Moses’ about the Syrian civil war and he exposed malpractices by only using public sources and social media. Under Higgins' leadership, Bellingcat gained global respect through discoveries surrounding the MH17 disaster and the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Bellingcat, which has since grown into an organisation with over 40 full-time researchers and 25,000 volunteers, has won many awards, including the Machiavelli Prize and an Oscar. Higgins will also receive an honorary doctorate from Leiden University next year.
