Sustainability & Law lecture series: an introduction to sustainability in six lectures
Starting on 4 November and continuing for six weeks every Monday, a series of lectures will be held on topical issues by teaching staff and guest speakers from the field. These lectures will introduce you to the legal aspects of sustainability issues, such as sustainable fashion and improving sustainability in the aviation industry. How can the law contribute to a more sustainable world? Guest lecturers and faculty teaching staff will share their knowledge and insights. During the lecture, you’ll be able to ask questions and discuss the topics with the speakers.
The first lecture will deal with the negotiations on the UN Plastics Treaty: a new environmental treaty that will tackle plastic pollution and the excessive production of plastic. The other lectures will deal with:
- From fast to sustainable fashion (in Dutch)
- Food & Sustainability (partly in Dutch, partly in English)
- Greenwashing and enforcement by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) (in Dutch)
- Sustainable aviation: an oxymoron? (in Dutch)
The lectures will be given in the Lorentz Lecture Hall, room A144, between 4 November and 9 December. This is an extracurricular lecture series, which means you won’t receive any ECs for attending. However, if you write a blog and attend five lectures, you’ll receive a certificate.
