Join the BaSS-CSM OLC: Shape the future of our programmes
Are you interested in enhancing the quality of your education and influencing the structure of your learning environment? We invite you to join the BaSS-CSM Programme Committee (OLC) and play an essential role in shaping the future of our courses. This is an opportunity for you to engage directly with the academic framework, advocate for meaningful changes, and ensure your voice as a student is represented.
Importance of the OLC
The OLC plays a crucial role in ensuring the academic quality and relevance of our programmes. The Programme Committee monitors the quality of the programmes and advises the Programme Directors and the Dean on this matter. It also functions as a sounding board. Ernst Dijxhoorn, the programme director of CSM, highlights its significance: 'The OLC is imperative for quality control of the programme; it is one of the main ways for us to know what students think, how they rate the programme, and transmit the suggestions they have for changes. Moreover, it keeps us sharp about when or where things can improve.'
Why get Involved?
But what’s in it for you? Student member Sami Katkhouda shares his perspective on the benefits of getting involved: 'Students may feel powerless in their feedback forms when they think a course could improve. One way to change this feeling is to join the university structure and implement improvements in your programme. The OLC allows students to gain experience in how Leiden University functions, evaluating policy and proposing changes to help a course reach its potential.'
Looking ahead, the focus will be on collaborating closely with the OLC to ensure strong alignment between the CSM main courses and specialisations. Additionally, gathering feedback on the improvements made to the BaSS programme last year will be a priority.
Compensation
As a token of appreciation for your commitment, active members who serve for a full year will receive a small financial compensation, along with valuable experience and free training sessions on co-participation.
