Apply for a Master Honours Challenge!
Broaden your horizons with a Master Honours Challenge! You will address a societal topic or a challenge from a real-world organisation, together with students from other disciplines.
Applications run till 23 February 2025. For this semester you can choose from four courses. The challenges start in March.
Politics, Opera and Philosophy (3 EC)
In Politics, Opera and Philosophy you will reflect on opera through a political and philosophical lens, together with composers and conductors in the field. You will work with students from the National Opera Academy for your final assignment. After completing this challenge you will be able to:

critically reflect on the role of the arts in society;
-
analyse interpretations, and interpret, political and philosophical ideas in opera;
-
critically reflect on performance practices and the composition of classical canon;
-
develop skills to put views about arts into words;
-
engage, cooperate and find a common language with people from other disciplines.
Entrepreneurship and Impact (5 EC)
In Entrepreneurship and Impact: First steps to starting your own business you will reflect on sustainable, circular, and impact-driven business alternatives and work on your own project or business idea. After completing this challenge you will be able to:

evaluate the needs and preferences of clients and users;
-
identify your own assumptions and find ways to test them rapidly;
-
present your solutions and answer questions effectively;
-
work within a group of students with diverse backgrounds;
-
reflect on your personal progress and role within your team.
Planet in Peril (5 EC)
How to tackle our ecological crises? In the course Planet in Peril: Exploring Human Relations with Nature, you will address this issue through the lens of environmental sciences, biology, law and philosophy and make a documentary. After completing this challenge you will be able to:

identify different perspectives on environmental issues;

describe and reflect on your own attitude in relation to environmental problems;
-
show sophistication in your judgement and analyses of environmental issues;
-
do project management and work with people from other disciplines.
Race in Law & Policing (10 EC)
In Race in Law & Policing: Understanding Institutionalized Racism and Discrimination through Research & Art you will engage deeply with the challenges of racial disparities in law and policing through discussions and artistic workshops. After completing this challenge you will be able to:

Understand of the role of race in legal and policing frameworks, now and in the past.

Critically analyze how art influences and can alter the discourse surrounding race and policing.

Compare and contrast global legal systems to identify (in)effective strategies against racial discrimination in policing.
-
Employ intersectional approaches to tackle complex discrimination issues effectively.
-
Apply artistic research methods to socio-legal problems and questions.
