2 - 5 September: Official opening Gorlaeus Building, Tuesday Talks (special edition) and a spectacular Opening Party
The start of a new academic year! And this start is a great one! Because from 2 to 5 September, we will be celebrating the festive opening of the brand new Gorlaeus Building!
This promises to be a fantastic week, with the official opening, a special edition of the Tuesday Talks, and concluding with a spectacular opening party for all staff and students of the faculty. You couldn't wish for a better start to the new academic year!
2 September - Official opening
In the Lecture Hall building, there will be an engaging talk show featuring various speakers discussing the Gorlaeus Building and the importance of (beta) science as an incubator and knowledge hub for innovation in the market, industry, and society.
The highlight of the morning will be the spectacular moment when we officially open the doors of our new building with our students, Jasper Knoester (Dean of the Faculty of Science), Annetje Ottow (President of the Executive Board of Leiden University), and Constantijn van Oranje (Special Envoy Techleap).

3 September - Tuesday Talks with Ionica Smeets
On Tuesday 3 September, Ionica Smeets (Professor of Science Communication) will take you through her lecture on 'Battling Misleading Graphs'. This special edition of the Tuesday Talks is part of a monthly lecture series featuring a presentation by one of our researchers that is open to everyone in our community. Afterwards, there will be drinks with a performance by The Stream!
5 September - Opening Party
On Thursday 5 September, the Gorlaeus Building will transform into a party venue for the opening celebration. Don't miss this unique opportunity to join faculty staff and students in celebrating the opening of the beautiful Gorlaeus Building. It promises to be an unforgettable evening.
We kick off the evening at 20.00hrs with DJ Teddie Heart. At 21:00hrs, the opening ceremony will take place. After that, the party gets really started! Check out the line-up below.
