Summer Osteology internship at Archol

5 June 2024

In the eighties of the previous century, archaeological work was carried out in the ‘Minderbroedersklooster’ in Dordrecht. More than 1000 individual human skeletons from late and post Middle Ages have been recovered.

Research is currently ongoing to establish a database open to international professionals and students. Basic osteological characteristics are to be described and we offer the possibility to support this. The work initially consists of correctly identifying the fragmentated and mixed up human skeletal parts and dental elements, distinguishment between left and right side and measuring bone lengths.

If experienced, performing other analyses like sex and age estimation can be part of the internship as well.
