Save food, bring the city together: become a volunteer at BuurtBuik Leiden

Besides social impact through research, Leiden University employees also stimulate society on a local and personal level. Psychology lecturer Bastiaan Vuyk set up the BuurtBuik Leiden location with his fellow board members from volunteer organisation BuurtBuik. This organisation provides a weekly dinner of saved food for Leiden neighbourhood residents.
Vuyk: 'Using saved food from supermarkets in Leiden, our volunteers make a free three-course lunch every Sunday for people who need it and want to socialise. In this way, we want to contribute to the connection in our beautiful city. We are always looking for new enthusiastic volunteers, who also want to contribute to this!'
