Archaeology student meeting on Israel-Palestine conflict

24 January 2024

Emotions have been running high worldwide since the outbreak of the Israel-Palestine conflict and our university community too has been deeply affected. Students have expressed an interest in discussing the situation in Israel and the Palestinian territories. They wish to voice their concerns but also share their thoughts and ideas.

For this we have organised a gathering on Thursday February 1, at 14.00 hours. Location is room E0.03a in the Van Steenis building. The meeting will be for about 25 people maximum. Identification will be checked on entering, so bring your LU ID card with you, and note that the meeting is only for students of archaeology. Make sure to register if you want to attend.

The objective is to create an inclusive, safe and supportive environment for archaeology students to learn about and discuss the current conflict in Israel-Palestine, encouraging empathy, understanding, and critical thinking. Staff will provide a range of informative and educational resources available online. We encourage participants to be sensitive and respectful to the backgrounds and perspectives of other students.
