The Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) programme at Leiden University is inviting applications for an internship for 17 weeks, from 1 March to 30 June 2024.

GTGC is an interdisciplinary programme that aims to advance knowledge and practice on how we govern – and could govern – major world-scale changes in contemporary society. These global transformations include hegemonic and other geopolitical shifts, ecological changes, technological innovations, pandemics, demographic trends, economic restructuring, reconfigured identities, and altered forms of violence and peacebuilding.

The internship is an opportunity for a student to learn how to operate in an interdisciplinary programme; develop organisational skills; build an academic network; further develop their academic research skills; and organise public events on pressing contemporary global governing challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Help organise the GTGC conference;
• Help coordinate the GTGC seed grant programme;
• Help build the profile of the GTGC programme through social media and the GTGC website;
• Assist research on governing a global world;
• Optional: write an internship research paper;

Selection Criteria

• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent research skills
• Initiative
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
• Organisational experience is a plus
• Master student at Leiden University
