The Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) programme at Leiden University is inviting applications for

Two Conference Assistants (0,2 FTE each)

GTGC is looking for two postgraduate conference assistants (MA / MSc or PhD level) who can help the team with organizing its third international conference that takes place in The Hague on 5-7 June 2024. The aim of the conference is to promote open conversation among various stakeholders to develop innovative, interdisciplinary knowledge and policy to address contemporary global-scale changes (in ecology, economy, geopolitics, technology, etc.). GTGC is looking for two students who are enthusiastic to support this objective. The appointments will run from 15 November 2023 to 7 June 2024. Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of the academic programme (e.g. tracking paper submissions; communication with the applicants; helping to organize the academic panels)
• Support the planning of all aspects of conference logistics (e.g. ordering catering; setting up remote connections; travel and accommodation support for visitors; managing the conference registration list)
• Support the execution of all aspects of conference logistics (e.g. staffing the registration table; welcoming guests; supporting the catering service; tracking and reporting public engagement)
• Internal and external communications

Selection Criteria

• MA / MSc student or PhD Candidate
• Excellent skills in planning, organizing, and problem solving
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Initiative
• Team player
• Flexibility
• Organizational experience is desirable
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
• For one of the two candidates, Dutch proficiency would be a plus
