New Focus Area MA course: Archaeology of Greek Mediterranean
Please note that a new Focus Area for the master's programmes has become available: Archaeology of the Greek Mediterranean. The course will be taught in block 3, February-March 2023.
This course offers both an overview of the archaeology of the Greek Mediterranean from the Late Bronze Age (Minoans, Mycenaeans) to the Classical period through lectures, in-depth discussion of key themes in class, study of a handbook and thematic readings.
Apart from gaining knowledge of Greek material culture, this course invites you to form your own opinion about various current debates in Greek archaeology, as e.g. the Homeric epics, the phenomenon of ‘colonisation’, gender, and the role of religion in ancient Greek society.
