Job opportunity: Faculty member of the Leiden University Studentplatform (LUS) 2022-2023

4 May 2022

For the academic year of 2022-2023 (1st September onwards) the Leiden University Student Platform (LUS) is looking for new faculty representatives. As a LUS faculty member you will be part of a student think tank, organising student meetings, collaborating with a broad group of students and representing the experiences of students at your faculty within the LUS. You can apply until 22 May.

About the LUS

The Leiden University Student Platform (LUS) is a student-led think tank composed of eight members, seven representatives of each Faculty and a Chair. The LUS discusses a wide variety of topics concerning students, such as student well-being or communication.

A core role of the LUS is to obtain input from fellow students. Several times a year, the LUS organises meetings for all interested students to discuss and brainstorm about different important topics. The insights and ideas collected during these meetings will be communicated to the Executive Board and other relevant organs at the University.

The platform is also responsible for awarding the Leiden Teaching Prize during the opening of the academic year. The faculty member maintains close ties with that faculty's student Assessor. The workload of a faculty representative is about two to three hours a week, for which the university provides compensation.

Profile

To be eligible for the position, candidates should have the following profile:

  • You have a large network within your faculty or are willing to make the effort to build up a network;
  • You are interested in current student policies and educational development at the university;
  • You have an affinity with defending student interests;
  • You are proactive in organising, and are used to working in a group;
  • You are aware of the responsibilities that come with LUS membership. This includes, among other matters, periodical meetings, the organisation of student meetings, and attending lectures for the Leiden Teaching Prize.

Interested?

You can find out more about the position by contacting the current LUS member or student assessor at your faculty. Other questions can be directed to the current chair of the LUS, Catrin Böcher, via lus@sea.leidenuniv.nl.

Deadline: 22 May

You can apply until 22 May 2022 via e-mail. Send your motivation letter and cv (max. 1 A4) to the LUS-faculty member and student assessor of your faculty.
